Perkins Elementary in Des Moines kicked of the school year with a parade Friday morning.
It?s become an annual tradition for students, teachers, and parents to ring in the new school year by showing their pride. Students carried hand-made posters along the parade route and cheered for the school?s mascot, the penguin.
Neighbors around the school also came out to support the kids.
