Ohio Department of Insurance Offers Ohioans Tips Ahead of the ...

With the potential for severe weather caused by the effects of Hurricane Sandy, Ohio's Department of Insurance is advising Ohioans to prepare now in case of storm-related property or vehicle damage.?

Director Mary Taylor recommended that residents review their insurance policies, coverage and claims process with an insurance agent.

If you become a victim of the storm, call your insurance company as soon as you can.?

Be sure your agent knows how to contact you, especially if you have to move out of your home.?

If you do have to seek temporary housing, check your policy for "loss of use" coverage.?

Take steps to prevent additional damage if you can, but don't put yourself at risk.?

Document your claim with photographs and written repair estimates.
